![]() ![]() That's a huge endorsement & if you really did enjoy BG2 and IWD to the extent you say, this is the game you want IMO. It's a cornerstone game that brought life back into the genre in such a way that Larian is now the company working on BG3. D:OS II if you just want to jump straight into "the best right now".ĭ:OS II will almost assuredly go down in gaming history as one of the best CRPGs of all times in terms of quality, playability, and polish. PoE if you want very micro and convoluted mechanics. If you've done those or just want something more modern or what-have-you, I'd suggest either POE or D:OS 1 or 2. ![]() The OG is better, but Numenera is solid & underappreciated, IMO. Personally for me, as a story-first RPG gamer, I would go back & play Planescape Torment or even Numenera, if you haven't. I've played all of the ones you've listed and all of the others from the same studios (with a few exceptions but the notable ones). This is why they have such excellent follow up games in franchises where the main body of the game is already made and why they end up fumbling around when they try to do it themselves. It may sound harsh but it is my belief that Obsidian is clueless when it comes to anything other than dialogue trees, factions and writing in general. You could also probably dismiss some followers if it feels like too much micro but I haven't personally tried this. The dlc was particularly good at least compared to vanilla. I was gifted this game and I liked it enough to see it through to the end. It is simply trying to emulate the infinity games without understanding how or why they work. hoping they would eventually click together and form coherent crpg combat. Feels like they threw a bunch of stats, status buffs/debuffs, abilities etc. ![]() I prefer RTWP and I was still bored with the combat in this.
